Recently I reorganized my spice drawer/cabinet.
https://www.wifeycooksketo.com/?p=1041 And even though it was some work, I was left with such a great feeling when I was done that I found enough motivation to do the same for my kitchen cabinets. I knew I wanted to move some stuff around and finally get rid of or store the remaining non-keto products that were still hanging around.
First, I opened all my cabinets and just looked at everything, trying to visualize where I wanted everything to go and where I wanted to start.
Then I started removing stuff from the cabinets. I don’t have a ton of counterspace so I kind of had to kind of go a couple of areas at a time. But before I got too far, I needed to wipe out and clean the cabinets which they needed tremendously.
There were so many cabinets that had mish-mashed items: measuring cups next to sesame oil, mixing bowls in two different places. Nothing seemed to make any sense. So I began grouping things that were related. And then I methodically placed items back. Many times I would place some things and then take them back out and shuffle them around. I did this until I felt like everything had a place.
I knew I wanted to start with this little upper cabinet next to the stove. As you can see, it was stuffed with all sorts of odd items. Now it holds measuring cups, food scales and mortar and pestles as well as other cooking devices.
Next, I moved on to this corner cabinet and placed all of my pantry items: coconut oil, MCT oil, collagen and all of my more exotic cooking products such as sesame oil and rice vinegar on a Lazy Susan for easy access. The bottom shelf has all of my Tupperware containers and lids organized in the white baskets.
I got these great wedge-shaped organizers from Amazon for my Lazy Susan cabinet which helped me to group things together really nicely. The bottom shelf holds all my mixing bowls and colanders and the top shelf has all my Keto baking ingredients and apple cider/white vinegar.
This bottom cabinet next to the fridge now holds my slow cooker, InstantPot, InstantPot accessories, spiralizer and vacuum sealer.
This is an awkward bottom corner cabinet next to the dishwasher. It now holds my roasting pans, casserole dishes and muffin pans.
I love this open cabinet but it was becoming a mess. So I moved all the teas to another cabinet and put only my fave coffee and tea cups and fancy plates.
These corner cabinets we another headache. They were a catch-all for glasses, jars, bottles and all sorts of other random things. So I put all my glass jars on the top shelf, all the other coffee cups on the middle shelf and glasses on the bottom shelf.
The cabinet on the right that was once in great disorder now houses teas, tall water pitchers and water bottles.
For my cabinet that held my dishes, I simply put plates on the bottom shelf, bowls on the middle shelf and a few extra items on the top shelf.
And then I reorganized my toaster oven, stand mixer, and all my coffee making devices and products. Coffee is an extremely important part of our day so it is wonderful to have everything in one area.
My kitchen organization is almost complete! I have two more areas that need some attention but the biggest parts are done. It feels like I have a new kitchen and can’t wait to put it to use!
